General Practice FAQ

  • We do not accommodate walk-in appointments or offer same-day new patient appointments. If you are an existing patient and require a prompt visit for a specific concern, you are welcome to contact the office and connect with your physician’s dedicated Medical Assistant. Every call will be assessed and managed according to its urgency.

  • Your annual examination is a crucial preventive appointment where your healthcare provider will conduct a comprehensive physical assessment. This encompasses a breast examination, pelvic assessment, and a pap smear if deemed necessary. Additionally, it's the perfect opportunity to inform your provider of any updates to your personal history, family health background, and current medication regimen. Your doctor will assess the requirement for health screening assessments or vaccinations based on your age and health history. It's also the appropriate time to request prescription refills.

Kindly note that the yearly checkup does not encompass conversations about persistent chronic conditions or emerging issues. For discussions related to these matters, please schedule separate appointments designated for problem visits.

  • We do not perform mammograms in our office. However, we can provide you with a list of local facilities that we’re refer our patients to.

  • If your results are normal you will get a phone call or email notification according to your preference. If your results are abnormal you will receive a phone call from the physician or Medical Assistant.

  • Please call to schedule your annual appointment 6-8 weeks prior to the date you are due to return for your yearly visit.

Policies FAQ

  • For all refills, please call your pharmacy, they will fax us a refill request. Please allow 48 hours for your request to be filled. If we must see you before we allow a refill our office will contact you to set up an appointment.

  • Patients often bring their babies with them to appointments and we love to meet them! We understand that busy Moms may need to bring their children at times and we will do our best to accommodate this. Although, if at all possible, we would encourage you to not bring children to your appointment so that our providers can have your undivided attention.

  • We try to accommodate patients that may be late, but due to our patient volume it is at the discretion of the provider and what the schedule will allow. We typically only allow 10 minutes.

  • You may request your medical record by filling out a Medical Records Request Form. This form is available online or you may ask for one at the front desk. Please allow 72 hours from the receipt of your release form for your records to be sent. We utilize an outside medical records company to copy all records. There is a fee for this service that will be billed directly to you from the medical records company.

  • Please bring your insurance card, completed forms, and your copay (if applicable). Please bring any previous medical records pertinent to your visit.

If you must fill out your forms in the office we ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to ensure ample time for completion. In an effort to maintain accurate records, we ask that you complete a demographic sheet each year.

  • Our office will try to call one day ahead and remind you of your appointment; however, it is your responsibility to keep record of your appointment and to arrive on time. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call 24 hours in advance between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm. For after hour cancellations we have an answering service for your convenience, they will send us a message notifying the office.

Patients who cancel appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice will be considered a No Show. Every No-Show visit will be recorded in your chart. Multiple No Show appointments can end your ability to make appointments and/or receive medical care at Generations of Women.
